Common Pipe Shapes
Here is a listing of some of the more common pipe shapes and styles. - Apple: A true classic pipe shape with a round or spherical bowl.

- Squat: A shorter version of an apple shape.
- Author: This classic shape has a squat apple bowl with a wide stem and shank at a deeper bend.
- Belge: A slim, elegant design with a slim round bowl tilted forward.
- Billiard: One of the most common styles, this pipe has a round and tall bowl even in proportion with the shank.
- Brandy Glass: An unusual shape that has a bowl in the shape of a brandy glass.
- Bullcap: This unusual shape has a bowl similar to a bulldog, without the lines, and is tilted forward.
- Bulldog: A true classic shape, this pipe is most recognized by the line which rings the cap of the bowl.

- Rhodesian: A bulldog with a squat bowl.
- Calabash: A pipe with the chamber constructed from the African Calabash Gourd, and a bowl of clay, meerschaum, or briar.
- Canadian: A classic shape consisting of a round billiard bowl and a long briar shank.
- Cherrywood: Similar to the poker in shape but with an evenly round bowl reminiscent of a corn-cob.
- Chimney: A tall, cylindrical bowl with a smaller diameter.
- Churchwarden: May be any shape of bowl but with an 8" or longer stem.
- Dublin: A classic shape with the bowl tilting slightly forward.
- Freehand: A class of pipe shapes that are not classically defined.
- Horn: A pipe either (1) shaped like a horn or (2) with a conical bowl often slightly tilted forward.
- Liverpool: A Canadian bowl with a wider shank and a longer stem.
- Lovat: A Canadian bowl and shank with a shorter stem.
- Oom-Paul: A tall cylindrical bowl with a full bend.
- Panel: A pipe with a bowl that has flat panels in the front, back, and sides.
- Poker: This pipe has a cylindrical bowl with a flat bottom.
- Pot: A truly classic shape with a shorter, wide round bowl.
- Prince: This distinctive shape has a squat apple bowl with a slight bent stem.
- Topper: Similar to the Woodstock but with a slimmer bowl.
- Woodstock: This shape has a round bowl that is tilted forward.
- Zulu: This unusual shape has a horn bowl that is tilted forward and a wider, bent stem.
